ANTOINE'S EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEY PART 7 Antoine looked at Rod and then looked to the ground. He had to admit Rod had handled that quite well. He was ashamed of himself. How hastily had he come to the conclusion that Rod would be useless. But he had been wrong. *Oh well,* he thought forlornly, *Zere is no time to wallow in mistakes right now. Zere is work to do.* His thoughts were interrupted by a loud war cry coming from another freedom fighter. It was impossible to tell who; they all sounded like Sonic. "Woooo-hoooo! Who's the moron who's never gonna catch us? Who will never take over the forest? Who's never gonna find Knothole? 'Buttnikhead!" He/she cried. "Tails, not so loud. We're not going to get very far if we shout like that." Someone else said. Probably Sally. As they approached Robotnik's headquarters, they accellerated. The quicker the better. They reached the big looming structure and scanned it for safe ways of entry. They found none. Rod just smirked. "No problem. I'll just zap us in." he explained. And that is what he did. ZAP! They were suddenly on the other side of the wall. Rod gestured for the others to stay low to the ground. Once they were all crouching, they began to whisper about things to do. They decided to split up. After all, it wouldn't be too good if they were all caught together. "Oh pleez let me go wiz someone else. I don't want to be alone!" Antoine wailed. Rod giggled. "I suppose I'll go with you," he said, "but Tails has to come too." Tails smiled and nodded. They did not notice the metallic clanging behind them. A cold, hard hand rested on Rod's shoulder. Rod turned around, terrified. A workerbot looked back at him. It was a wolf. Sonic reached into his backpack and pulled out his power ring. "No." Rod said, refraining him, "I don't think he needs it." he morphed himself into his own body and turned back to the robot. "D...dad..." was all he said. The robot smiled and put his arm around Rod. "Ronnie..." he said.
